A Flemish merchant in Venice. Born Jan Van Haanen, son of one of the wealthiest trader in Venice, he was ennobled by Ferdinand of Austria and granted Venetian citizenship. He lived in Palazzo Talenti, celebrated for the painted façade, and was a patron of Titian, commissioning religious paintings and portraits, among which the “Ecce Homo”.
